FVW, Germany (September)
The FVW Congress, together with the Travel Expo 2006, is a top congress for the tourism, business travel and technology industry and the meeting place for decision makers.
The FVW programme reflected a ‘Who’s Who’ of the international travel industry. Speakers included Ryanair CEO, Michael O’Leary, Deutsche Bahn CEO, Harmut Mehdorn, Google Manager, Esteba Walther and José Antonio Tazón, Amadeus President & CEO. Tazón spoke about the fundamental changes that the distribution world is experiencing, the shift toward online and direct distribution channels and Amadeus experience as an IT service supplier.
PhocusWright, Brussels, Belgium (September)
PhocusWright Europe is a key event in the tourism sector where senior executives and key influencers debate, define and predict the ever-evolving realities of travel. Philippe Chérèque, Amadeus Senior Vice President Corporate Strategy was a keynote speaker on the subject of Next Generation GDS. He focused on the future of travel, web2.0 and open system architecture and how Amadeus is at the forefront of technology for tomorrow.
PATA, Hong Kong (September)
Amadeus was one of the main sponsors for PATA Travel Mart, held at the Asia Expo in Hong Kong. PATA is one of Asia´s main travel trade shows with participation from key sectors of the travel industry including hotels, travel agents and airlines. As well as demo-ing the solution portfolio on the exhibition booth, Amadeus also sponsored the media lounge and media briefing session.
On top of that, a round table was organised covering development in hospitality, cruise and insurance and areas such as market potential, commission models, role of travel agencies in selling insurance and cruises.
Amadeus Provider Workshop, Florida, US (October)
In early October Amadeus hosted a hotel workshop for US hoteliers. The aim of the one and half day workshop was to share our vision, future product plans and strategies, as well as offer an interactive communication platform to receive customer feedback. Interactive and dynamic sessions were facilitated by Amadeus executives, and served as an opportunity to network with industry peers and review critical industry issues and perspectives.
HostelCo 2006, Barcelona, Spain (November)
Amadeus attended HostelCo in Barcelona and launched the Amadeus Property Management System on the Spanish market, which was enthusiastically received by hoteliers. HostelCo is one of Spain's leading exhibitions for hoteliers and this year celebrated its 25th anniversary with record attendance, over 100,000 visitors from the restaurant & hotel sectors.
Equip’Hotel Paris, France (November)
Amadeus exhibited at Equip’Hotel in Paris showcasing a full range of IT solutions and demontrating new products and innovations for the hotel industry. Equip’Hotel is one of France’s major trade fairs for the hospitality and catering industry with over 100,000 visitors from the restaurant and hotel industry attending.
