Commission Management:
Strengthening the bond between hotels and travel agents

Today’s fragmented systems can make receiving commission payments a complex - and time consuming – task for the travel agent. Amadeus is committed to helping build stronger commercial relationships between hotels and travel agents.

Given the choice, travel agents book through channels where they can be confident of collecting their commission with the minimum of hassle. To increase the reliability of payments, and consolidate the management of commissions across the different payment systems, Amadeus is pioneering its Commission Management System. A pilot of the system begins at the end of 2006 and initially will be offered to travel agents in Europe and South America.

The commission management system was developed in partnership with WPS - Worldwide Payment Systems – and brings together two important sides of the commission payment process: hotel booking information and commission status and claiming for travel agencies.

Three moves to more reliable payment

The Amadeus solution gives the travel agent a user-friendly Web based management tool. Here, they can view the status of payments across their bookings. Hotels will be ranked into categories, depending on whether or not they have a payment provider. This will give the travel agent a clear understanding of how and when they will be paid. A data mining module makes it easy for agents to make comparisons between different hotels.

Building better relationships

A critical tool for building relationships between the travel agent channel and hotels, Amadeus will evolve its commission management solution to offer the agent a wider range of commission services which will be integrated into the Amadeus Selling Platform.
